The virus infected leaf has a coarser upper epidermis with a thickened cell wall and a better developed assimilation (palisade and spongy) crumb that is thicker than that of the control leaf. 

The cells of the palisade crumb in the infected leaf are longer and there are more of them than in the control leaf.
